Genealogy Bulletin Boards
|
Calendars |
|
In encourage you to post on as many
genealogy bulletin boards as you can. I have run into many distant and not so distant
cousins on some of these boards. You may not only find a long lost cousin but it is a
great way to meet other researchers.

Did you know that there were at one time two
calendars?? The Julian and Gregorian calendars. Read about both calendars, who created
them and why, and how they affects our genealogical research. If nothing else it is
an interesting history lesson.

All of these pages include many
resources for researching your German Ancestors and some very useful information on
immigration, naming customs, genealogy and much more. So grab a cup of coffee or a cold
drink and happy reading!!

You will find genealogy programs, census film rentals, books, forms
and more among these web pages. My favorite is Heritage Quest, I use them often.

Searchable Databases

The lifeblood of these sites are their
volunteers. There are so many areas where you can lend a hand. You can host
a GenWeb site, transcribe wills, probate records, census or headstones, do
courtesy look up in genealogy books you may own or offer to do a little
research on your next trip to the library or LDS. I have volunteered to do
look ups for the Sonoma County California GenWeb site and am also
transcribing the 1840 and 1860 Livingston County Missouri Federal Census.

Some of the best databases on the web today.
Not only surname databases but ancestral files, census indexes and FTM CD indexes. I use
Ancestry.com often and it is well worth the membership fee for their full services. Just
their AIS is worth it......no more trips to the LDS!!
